Viral campaign for ‘The Last Exorcism’ hits Chatroulette

There’s a pretty girl hanging around on Chatroulette at the moment scaring people. The girl is part of a campaign to promote the latest horror movie ‘The Last Exorcism’.

For those of you that don’t know, Chatroulette is a website that pairs random strangers from around the world together for webcam-based conversations (source: Wikipedia).

Meeting people on Chatroulette can be fun, but when you meet this girl, it might not be so much fun anymore. I’ve seen the videos and I wasn’t really scared by the girl, but I loved the flabbergasted reactions of the people she was chatting with.

Check out the video to see for yourself. Please be aware, if you’re not used to strong language or unpleasant imagery, don’t watch the video, it contains both.

I like the fact that this viral campaign is part of something bigger. Apparently a website called ‘Church of Saint Marks’ was created a couple of weeks ago containing ‘information’ on exorcism. All created to promote ‘The Last Exorcism’ which should be in theaters in the U.S. on August 27.

I really liked how they used this medium to connect with people. It’s ideal for them, since people use Chatroulette mostly at night it all helps with the scaring and horror bit.

I wonder what else they’ve got up their exorcism sleeve. Seeing how they’re teasing the public now. I expect an interesting opening night as well!

I’m also quite interested to see the ‘next’ Chatroulette campaign. I’m sure this one won’t be the last!

What do you think of the campaign? Does it make you want to see the film?
